I feel a connection with them all thanks to Kagawa’s brilliant writing and the way she pulls at my strings. He tells Allie to continue without him, and although she is reluctant, she eventually escapes outside of the Wall. But now, with eternity itself hanging in the balance, the lines between human and monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make.
It’s not like Allie was ever truly helpless and innocent, growing up scrounging to survive and looking out mostly for herself, but etegnity is harder in this book. I feel more pity towards him now, funnily enough, than after he lost his father and friends at the hands of Jackal.
I could see those coming a hundred miles away. The middle book in the trilogy and as with the first book I almost loved it, but not quite. The situation gets even more complicated when, while closing in on Sarren, Allie and Jackal run into Zeke.
And while I enjoyed their banter and thought it hinted at the realistic relationship the characters have, I think that much more could have been shown about both Allie’s character eterjity giving her room to grow and to get to know the other character. Being totally crazy, he torments everyone he could get his hands on and he is professional at doing it.
Jackal is quickly becoming my favorite character In that moment, I’d never wanted to be human more, just so I could be with Ezekiel Crosse. In his last moments, Zeke professes his love for Allie and his hopes of forgiveness from God when Sarren tells them camera of his true intentions, to release the outbreak in Eden.
Fight it as long as you want–in the end, the monster always wins. Allie first however, wishes to see Kanin, though what she finds is instead an uncontrollable beast that bites her when she offers him food.
Zeke is ready to run him through with a stake on more than one occasion. But now, hte eternity itself hanging in the juliie, the lines between human julje monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make. She knows he is capable of horrible things, but she works with him anyway without being a screeching, whining, and contrary harpy.
I enjoyed a lot of action scenes where Allie kayawa so incredible! I think I need blown away at this point ucre read one of these trilogies! I’m not just saying that because she can work that katana—even though that is part of it—but I also just love her as a person. Jun 01, Valeria marked it as to-read Shelves: Oct 24, Sh3lly grumpybookgrrrl.
This is an example of how out of touch my was! She just has kagaws way with words, and I knew even before starting reading that this book would have been good, but damn I’m amazed that they got anything done with Zeke around.
This was everything I wanted in a sequel. Learn how your comment data is processed. I know jylie everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. Also props to all the gory and nasty stuff.
I still haven’t fully recovered yet. Also, Kagawa makes very tough female heroines. During a food raid outside of the Wall, Allie and her gang Rat, Stick, and Lucas are attacked by rabids. Of course, Allie knows that Eden would never be a place for her.
I have to admit, like The Immortal Rules, it started out a little slow. What in the world makes a cover look “dystopian”? Especially after the cliff hanger ending.
